Paul Drechsler CBE
Inclusive Workplaces and Better Engagement
The Business Case
In his keynote speech, CBI President Paul Drechsler will look at why inclusion is crucial for good engagement, which – in turn – can help solve the productivity puzzle. Showcasing some of the best work being done by companies across the United Kingdom, he will examine the business case for inclusive workplaces, and the roles of leaders and managers in delivering them.
Paul is Chairman of Bibby Line Group, Chairman of Teach First, and President of the CBI since July 2015.
He was Chairman and Chief Executive of Wates Group Limited, winners of BITC's Company of the Year accolade in 2011 until 2013
Prior to joining Wates, Paul spent 24 years with ICI PLC, holding senior positions in the UK,

""There now seems to be two clear camps as far as employee engagement is concerned. The first believes that everything needs to be proven and measured, whilst the second just believes that enthusing and motivating our employees is an intrinsically good thing to do anyway irrespective of any tangible outcome. Either way the subject is finally receiving the executive support and encouragement that it merits.
The really interesting thing for me is that role that technology plays. Within our personal lives technology is pervasive and invariably simple to use. It enables us to engage, share, collaborate and access information in ways that we would never have dreamed of before. We adopt and consume it intuitively as a matter of choice not compulsion. In this digital world what impact might it have on the productivity of organisations if we can offer employees the same tools and capabilities within their working lives as they experience outside the world of work? The potential is vast."
