What a Wonderful Engagement it Was!

A report about a recent EFS event by Louise McKerrow.

Having left Dumfries at the age of 18 it was wonderful to be back in town as a fellow ‘Doonhamer’. This time to combine thoughts and minds on the power of Engagement and Wellbeing in the workplace. The CIPD West of Scotland Branch had been keen to engage with practitioners in Dumfries and Galloway and we have been talking about the possibility for the last year. Coupled with a drive by Engage for Success to engage in the local communities of Scotland we managed to make this event happen. And what an event and successful evening.

anne wilsdon and david crossmanAn introduction from the CIPD West of Scotland branch Chair George Galloway followed by anintroduction to Engage for Success from Anne Wilson, Community Director. Then on to the spotlight session from David Crossman, DNA of Engagement who talked about the quick wins, the common sense, simple approach to engaging our employees, enhancing their wellbeing and behaviour resulting in business productivity and success.

Encouraged by the subject matter there were continued discussions long  after the session ended. The participants really interested and keen to get answers, engage with the CIPD and work with Engage for Success further. Fuelled by a wonderful buffet provided by the CIPD West of Scotland branch and supplied by Hullabaloo there was an enthusiasm, buzz and excitement about the things to come!!

dumfries and gallowayI was absolutely thrilled to be back in my home town, to create and support such a wonderful event. We called for action and the practitioners of Dumfries and Galloway jumped at the chance. We hope to speak to all further about the possibilities of another session in the near future and to continue the momentum of such an engaging and successful event.

Thanks to all that contributed to the event:

  • Anne Hill and her team at the University of West of Scotland for hosting.
  • Anne Wilsdon at Engage for Success.
  • George Galloway at CIPD West of Scotland branch.
  • David Crossman from DNA of Engagement.
  • Hullabaloo for the wonderful buffet!
