Employee Relations

THOUGHT AND ACTION GROUP

The Employment Relations Thought and Action Group (TAG) aims to provide a collaborative space for Employment Relations (ER) Practitioners to foster a deeper understanding of the evolving ER landscape, to share insights and best practice, and to build the evidence base for effective employment relations as a key driver of engagement.

Strategic Alignment

The TAG aligns with the following Engage for Success (EfS) strategic themes:

  • Good Work – acknowledging the role of employee voice as a key tenet of good work, and using voice to drive forward the broader good work agenda
  • People Productivity – fostering an approach to employment relations that is proactive and participative, improving employee satisfaction and associated productivity measures

Drivers

Key drivers for the TAG include:

  • The evolving Industrial Relations (IR) climate – learning lessons from recent challenges and looking forward to legislative changes
  • The Employment Rights Bill (2024): understanding its potential impact and involving the workforce in resulting organisational policy changes
  • HR skills deficit owing to long-term decline in industrial relations
  • Low scores associated with collective voice in the 2023 and 2024 Good Work Index Surveys

The primary audience for the TAG includes:

  • ER Practitioners
  • HR Leaders
  • Change/Transformation Managers

OBJECTIVES

The TAG has several working objectives:

  • Explore Strategies: Investigate ER strategies in the context of multi-faceted legislative changes.
  • Promote Collective Voice: Enhance understanding of the power of collective voice in the shifting IR landscape.
