SUMMARY:Protecting Yourself From Toxic People
DESCRIPTION:Having to deal with toxic people is overwhelming and frustrating. \nThe non-sensical conversations\, ad hominem attacks\, misrepresentations\, deception\, lack of taking responsibility for their actions\, defensiveness\, back-stabbing\, condescension\, and sarcasm is exhausting. \nYou’d like to just get the job done\, without feeling like you’re going into battle. You avoid them as much as possible\, find reasons for not working with them\, maybe even miss meetings they will be attending\, anything to not have to interact with them – but there’s no way around it\, sometimes you just have to work with them. \nToxic people can show up anywhere in your work or personal life – they can be customers\, vendors\, staff\, colleagues or managers. Toxic people have specific behaviours which require specific strategies for dealing them – they are much different from the strategies and tactics for dealing with people who are merely difficult. \nLearning to distinguish the truly toxic from the difficult and having a range of tools and techniques readily available will give you a major advantage in getting desired outcomes. \nToxic people can also be very destructive to relationships – one of the first rules of dealing with toxic people is to learn to protect yourself. \nIn this engaging and practical webinar you will learn key strategies\, tactics and skills to protect your emotional and psychological well being\, without acquiescing\, getting walked on\, controlled or dominated\, while also getting the job done\, efficiently and effectively. \n \n \nWhy Should You Attend \n“When someone shows you who they are\, believe them the first time” Maya Angelou\nToxicity in the workplace acts like an infectious disease – it spreads and infiltrates teams and relationships\, Without the understanding\, skills and tools applied intentionally\, toxicity will continue to spread eventually impairing the organization and burning out the leaders and staff. \nIn some organizations\, toxicity has a seemingly intractable hold on the culture – its rampant. In other organizations it is more covert\, but no less debilitating to the organization and the people. \nPeople who would not normally exhibit toxic behaviour begin reacting to the toxicity of others in ways that are negative and harmful to productivity and relationships. This is the beginning of a downward spiral. Toxicity feeding off toxicity. Good people will leave the team and organization. \nToxic behaviours won’t go away if they are ignored. They will fester. \nSpecific and intentional action is the only way to counter toxicity. There are skills and tactics that will work once the underlying behaviours are identified and understood. \nOnly by learning how to identify toxic behaviours and developing a specific plan to confront and incapacitate them\, will the workplace become safe and harmonious. \nObjectives of the Presentation\n» The drivers of toxic behaviour – why they do what they do\n» Specific tactics\, tips and tools for responding to toxic communications\n» How to stay centered and present when faced with toxicity\n» A key to relieving your own frustrating\n» How to get work done\, have effective communications and not let them control your life \nAreas Covered in the Session \n» You work in a team or group environment\n» You interact with the public\n» You have a team or organizational leadership role\n» You want to have less stress and more control of interactions \nWho Will Benefit\n» All sectors and industries. SUMMARY:Radio Show #420: Changing the World\, through the World of Work
DESCRIPTION:Special Guest: Matt Manners: CEO and Founder of Inspiring Workplaces \nMatt was born into a half English/ half Irish media-obsessed family. A journalist grandfather\, a grandmother who said he was blessed by the blarney and a father who led a top communications agency. So\, storytelling has always been very important to him. \nHe followed in his family’s footsteps for the first ten years of his career\, living and working in London\, Sydney and Boston helping organizations communicate with their customers. It was near the end of this period he began focusing on the CX and ultimately the number one influence on it…the employee experience. \nThe lack of appreciation of and investment in the EX by leaders and businesses drove Matt to invest all he had in the world to create The Employee Engagement Awards. To recognize and tell the stories of those that dared to try new things. Things that would enhance the people experience for the benefit of both them and the organization. Over five years The EE Awards expanded around the world and evolved into much more than just engagement and awards. Evolving into a global community\, an academy\, a content hub\, events\, a foundation and it also did awards. \nSo in 2020 it felt right to bring it all together in a new home called\, Inspiring Workplaces. An organization that wants to change the world\, with you\, through the world of work. \nJoin us as we discuss encouraging positive change in the workplace. \nListen Live (Archive Available) \nHost: Jo Moffatt

SUMMARY:Radio Show #421: How Founders Can Overcome Their Ego
DESCRIPTION:Special Guest: Andrew Bartlow: Co-Author of “Scaling for Success: People Priorities for High Growth Organisations” \nAfter working with hundreds of start-up founders\, Andrew has discovered that ego holds many of them from achieving true success. They often focus on irrelevant things that will make their company look good and forget about the most important foundational work. On the other hand\, founders also want to meet (or exceed) the expectations – of customers\, employees\, end investors and that’s great. The challenge happens when they start comparing themselves to companies that are lightyears ahead of them. Andrew would love to share real stories\, from the field\, of working with founders 1-1 to help them overcome ego\, prioritize better\, and achieve success. \nAndrew Bartlow has 25 years of Human Resources and Talent Management experience at organizations across a wide spectrum of sizes\, maturity stages\, and industries. He is the co-author of “Scaling for Success: People Priorities for High Growth Organizations”\, has a master’s degree from the top program in his field\, and has been CECP\, SPHR\, Six Sigma\, and executive coaching certified. Andrew leads Series B Consulting\, which helps businesses to articulate their people strategy and accelerate their growth\, while navigating rapid change. He also founded the People Leader Accelerator\, which is the preeminent development program for startup HR leaders. He’s worked with clients like Masterclass and many others to help them overcome obstacles in a hyper growth phase. SUMMARY:California Leaves of Absence - Employer Obligations\, Leave Interactions
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to help HR professionals and anyone else who deals with managing and monitoring leaves of absence in their companies to understand this field for regulatory compliance. \nCalifornia is one of the most complex states in which to do business and that complexity flows through to the complications that employers face when meeting their obligations under CA employment laws. One of these reasons is the many types of leave offered to CA employees and the many reasons for which employees can take leave. Employer requirements for managing leaves especially medical leaves of absence are bewildering. Even human resources professionals can be confused by the myriad of leave types in the state. And for some leaves even local laws must be considered. Just as serious is how these types of leaves interact with federal requirements. Although some provisions under California laws are similar to federal laws\, many of them are not and assuming they are can cause big trouble. It can feel overwhelming to manage leaves of absence and feel confident that the employer is compliant. \nAstute compliance with laws related to the various leave types is critical for any company with California-based employees. Liability costs for non-compliance can be staggering. Just as important is the cost of damaged employee relations and engagement as well as external organizational reputation. While companies will turn to their labor attorneys to walk them through the specific details of employee situations\, it’s important for HR professionals and anyone else who deals with managing and monitoring leaves of absence in their companies to understand this field. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nOverview of job protected leave types: California Family Rights Act (CFRA); Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL); California New Parent Leave Act (NPLA); baby bonding (“parental leave”); leave for domestic violence victims; leave for alcohol and drug rehabilitation; state paid sick leave under the Healthy Workplace\, Healthy Families Act of 2014; and state workers’ compensation.\nOverview of topics related to protected leave types: Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA); Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA)\, California ADA\, Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA); and compliance with interactive process requirements.\nDetails about Leaves for Victims of Crime and Victims of Domestic Violence\, Sexual Assault\, or Stalking\, including written documentation and usage of sick leave\, vacation or PTO time.\nDetails about federal and state Military Leave and Military Spouse Leave\, including the “escalator principle”; reinstatement; and termination restrictions.\nOverview of wage replacement leave types: California Paid Sick Leave under the Healthy Workplace\, Healthy Families Act of 2014; kin care; organ or bone marrow donor leave; state workers’ compensation; Paid Family Leave (PFL); and State Disability Insurance (SDI).\n\nAreas Covered:\n\nElements of the program’s featured leaves.\nState leaves in the state of CA.\nEligibility requirements for leave.\nMedical certification\, posting and notice requirements for leave.\nPay obligations for the employee under certain leave requirements.\nBenefits provided and methods for employees on leave.\nLeave integration. How state leaves and FMLA interact. How they do not interreact.\nLactation accommodation requirements.\nConsiderations before making decisions to deny requests for leave of absence.\nObligations and suggestions for communicating with employees on leaves of absence.\n\nWho will Benefit:\n\nHuman Resources\nManagers\nBusiness Owners\nEmployers

SUMMARY:Unemployment Insurance: Managing Strategic\, Financial\, and Human Resources Issues
DESCRIPTION:More than 38 million Americans have become unemployed…and the number is still rising. This represents a catastrophic employment disruption and is a significant loss of employment talent. In response\, more than 1 in 5 American workers have filed for unemployment insurance benefits…with many more are likely to do so. \nFor employers\, this represents significant potential liability. While 2020 state UI tax rates have already been set and are lower than they have been in a number of years\, the depression level unemployment caused by the coronavirus\, will cause unemployment tax rates and liabilities to increase drastically in 2021 and 2022. \nIn this environment\, employers should take the necessary steps to identify and manage future UI tax liabilities.Understanding the key elements of your unemployment insurance experience can provide your organization with important information about its financial and human resource management decision making process \nWhy Should You Attend \nUnfortunately\, UI tax liabilities are only the most obvious risk created by employee separations and unemployment insurance claims. Unemployment insurance claims often expose organizations to other potential liabilities: from wage and hour violations for misclassifying independent contractors to providing plaintiffs with discovery opportunities in other employment litigation settings. \nThus\, effective management of your organization’s unemployment insurance experience can provide you with the opportunity to improve your talent management results\, improve your hiring and onboarding processes\, enhance your performance management and discipline procedures\, and reduce your exposure to discrimination and wrongful discharge claims. Effective UI management allows your organization to use UI metrics to assess human capital risks\, measure supervisor and manager performance\, more accurately allocate resources\, and have a positive impact on the bottom line. \nThis webinar provides an update on federal and state UI issues\, discusses the impact of the coronavirus\, discusses 2020 and future state tax liabilities\, assesses the risks and costs associated with UI taxes and benefits\, and discusses effective UI tax management and cost control techniques. \nAreas Covered in the Session\n» Federal unemployment insurance issues\n» The CARES Act and its implications\n» State unemployment insurance issues\n» Key tax issues to be managed\n» Key UI benefit issues to be addressed\n» How UI issues affect your organization’s financial\, managerial\, and legal management \nWho Will Benefit\n» Human resources managers\n» Internal and external auditors\n» CEO and CFOs\n» Risk managers\n» Compliance managers\n» VPs\, GMs\, Directors\, Division Heads\, Senior Managers\, and Coordinators\nTo Register (or) for more details please click on this below link:\nhttps://bit.ly/3168izB\nEmail: support@concordeducations.com\nTel: +1-989-341-8773

SUMMARY:What will be the new normal for Performance Management?
DESCRIPTION:What will be the new normal for Performance Management? \nAs part of the celebrations for 10 years of Engage for Success\, the Performance Management TAG recently wrote a paper reviewing the changes in Performance Management in those 10 years. A lot has changed in the expectations and processes used in that time. However\, the world of work continues to change in response to the pandemic\, and this semi virtual / hybrid approach that is beginning to evolve is going to have a definitive impact on how performance management is approached. If you’re wondering how this is impacting other organisations and what the options might be for performance management\, you’re not alone. \nThis session is designed to allow us to share our learnings whilst hearing from others as to what has been working well for them\, what have been the challenges and how are they adapting.

SUMMARY:Salary History Ban: Everything Employers Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION\n\nLIVE ONLINE TRAINING COURSE\n 1 CEU HRCI |1 PDC SHRM APPROVED \n\nIt’s the job interview question you’d love to dodge: What’s your current\, or most recent\, salary? A low Figure could limit your starting pay. A high number might make you seem too expensive. Now\, several states and cities are banning the question as part of efforts to ensure pay equity for women and minorities\, but some companies say the new laws represent yet another intrusion into their businesses. \nIt is often customary for employers to ask for salary history and use that information to set wages in a new position. But when we take a closer look\, how is prior pay related to a worker’s ability to perform a new job? Shouldn’t employees be compensated for what their skills are worth to the new company and not be based on a different job from their past? \nA worker’s salary history follows her from job to job. Low pay at an early job can affect salary at a later one\, because hiring managers often base their offer on previous pay. Even candidates who negotiate and advocate strongly for themselves at the salary phase can wind up with a lower offer than someone who happened to earn more at an earlier position. \nThankfully\, recent efforts at the state level are working to end this misleading practice\, a welcomed step in ending the pay gap between men and women. \nRead more \nSESSION HIGHLIGHTS:\n\nWhat do the salary ban laws prohibit?\nHow asking about salary history impacts pay equity?\nWhat employers can and cannot ask related to prior salary?\nBest practices for employers to consider in light of new developments\nUsing market data to guide your compensation offers\nBest practices for communicating pay with future employees to increase offer acceptance rate\nPricing the job\, not the person\nPractical tips on how to comply with the salary history law\n\nWhy You Should Attend:\nMany states have passed a law\, banning the question of salary history. As the laws may brighten the employee’s faces. However\, employers and employees are not on the same page as many employers have voiced their opinion\, revealing that it is another intrusion into their business. To cut a long story short this webinar will give you an overview of salary history and practical tips on how to comply with the current laws. \nWho Should Attend:\n\nSenior Leadership\nHuman Resources Professionals\nCompensation Professionals\nRecruiting Professionals\nManagers & Supervisors\n\nDuring the Q&A session following the live event\, ask a question\, and get a direct response from our expert speaker. \nNote: You will get access to the Recording link and E-Transcript; in your account and at your registered email address\, in the next 2 -3 days once the webinar is accomplished. \nSign up now
