SUMMARY:Employee Onboarding : Why Too Much Emphasis on ‘Fit’ Can Backfire
DESCRIPTION:Course Whether you call it Employee Onboarding\, Workplace Induction\, Enculturation\, or New Employee Orientation (NEO)\, the process used to welcome and train your new employees while capturing their excitement of a new job and reducing their new job jitters is critical to their success. NEO is not a one day event\, but rather a process that begins after their acceptance of the job and extends through the first year of their employment. \nStudies show that the new arrival’s primary concerns are three things–my job\, my boss\, and my coworkers. Dealing with new employee jitters and uncertainties is a high priority in orientation programs. How long this mental mayhem lasts may depend a great deal on employee orientation. It’s been said that new hires have about 90 days to “prove” themselves in their new workplace. \nAccording to the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM)\, 500\,000 Fortune 500 managers change jobs every year while\, overall\, managers change jobs every 2 – 4 years. Non-management employees may change jobs even more frequently. \nThe process of orienting new employees to their new position\, their new work environment\, and their new colleagues takes time and if not done effectively\, the new hire leaves and goes elsewhere. Onboarding process for new hires welcomes and integrates the new hire into their new position and workplace so they become engaged and committed to their role in assisting the organization in reaching its mission. Employee onboarding is a strategy and a process that extends well beyond the first day on the job. \nIt is a critical process to get the new hire off and running in their new environment\, their new position\, and with new colleagues enabling them to enjoy their work and their employer. Onboarding needs to include fun activities\, using “buddies” to streamline the new hire’s experience\, beginning from the point of the job offer. It is one of the most important elements an employer should invest in. \nWhy Should You Attend \nA comprehensive onboarding process for new hires plays a pivotal role in catalyzing your new hires’ engagement into their new role\, responsibilities\, and the organization. The new employee reaches productivity a full 2 months sooner\, function as a team member quicker\, less likely to quit\, and more likely to be an active member of the organization. All of this equates to huge financial savings on the part of the organization. By 45 days after a new employee begins their job\, 20% quit! By 7 months\, 50% have quit. Forty six percent of new hires fail within 18 months\, and only 19% achieve success. \nThe exodus of these new hires costs the employer approximately 20% of each employee’s salary. Considering the percentage of employees who never engage with their new job – the costs are enormous. \nIf those employees engaged\, research shows that the stock value will have higher earnings per share\, and the business will experience 22% higher profitability\, 21% higher productivity\, 10% higher customer engagement\, 25% to 65% lower turnover\, 37% lower absenteeism\, 28% lower shrinkage (theft)\, and 48% fewer staff safety incidents. \nObjectives of the Presentation \n» To identify Human Resources’\, the supervisor’s\, and the Buddy’s roles in welcoming and training the new employee\n» To discuss the new employee’s role in her or his orientation\n» To differentiate between the new employee orientation to the organization and the orientation to the department\n» To assess\, develop\, implement and evaluate your employee onboarding strategy\n» To examine onboarding best practices\n» To assess\, design\, develop\, implement\, and evaluate your department’s New Employee Orientation (NEO) strategy.\n» To describe new-hire web-based onboarding portals\n» To explain gap analysis\, force field analysis\, and SWOT analysis in assessing your organization’s onboarding requirements and challenges \nAreas Covered in the Session\n» Sample checklists for the manager/supervisor\, Human Resources\, and the Buddy are provided\n» Tips on orienting the virtual employee\n» How to evaluate your employee onboarding process\n» To discuss importance of checklists for what to accomplish the first day\, first week\, first month\, and the first 90 days.\n» To list suggested lists and topics for the onboarding portal\n» To examine onboarding portal systems\n» Top tips on how to select and utilize a Buddy\n» Orientation evaluation forms for the new hire\, Human Resources\, the buddy\, and management\n» Tips on the manager-new hire “expectations” discussion \nWho Will Benefit\n» All industries – Human Resources – generalists and managers\n» Supervisors and managers of departments or units in any industry\nTo Register (or) for more details please click on this below link:\nhttps://bit.ly/38u1U93\nEmail: support@concordeducations.com\nTel: (989)341-8773

SUMMARY:The Complexity and Interplay Among ADAAA\, FMLA\, and Worker's Comp (WC) - How Do They Work Together\, or Not?
DESCRIPTION:Challenges – It’s confusing isn’t it? \nHow are we supposed to keep it all straight when there are times when the legal requirements of both the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the American Disabilities Act Amendment Act (ADAAA) are similar\, yet at other times one law contradicts another? \nWe find that we can’t comply with both laws at the same time\, so which one takes precedence over the other? \nAnd where does WC come in? To complicate matters\, even more\, WC is a state law\, while FMLA and ADAAA are federal laws\, and there are other state civil rights laws that also impact FMLA and the ADAAA. Consider that an injury under WC may also be a “serious health condition” under FMLA. \nState laws may differ from federal laws by covering additional health conditions\, may apply to small organizations\, or may cover situations in which the federal laws have no say such as domestic abuse. As HR\, we have the responsibility of sifting through these laws to ensure that we comply with each law that provides the best benefit to our employees. \nThese laws provide entitlements to our employees which means they are not considered an optional benefit. So\, even if you fail to apply the law to your employee\, they can claim protection anyway. For example\, if you fail to provide appropriate leave under FMLA\, that does not remove the employee’s right to job-protected leave. The ultimate goal of all three laws is to assist the employee to return to work. \nWhy Should You Attend \nThe webinar addresses laws that HR is responsible for upholding. When the laws are not followed\, it increases the liability for the organization and interferes with a fair and equitable work environment for employees. The complexity & interplay among the ADAAA\, FMLA\, Workers’ Comp (WC) are confusing to many HR professionals and this webinar will help decipher the complexities. \nObjectives of the Presentation \n» To review the intricacies of how WC\, ADAAA\, and WC intersect to provide employees’ coverage under these acts\n» To discuss the challenges in terminating an employee after they have expended their FMLA benefits without ignoring their rights through the American Disability Act Amendment Act (ADAAA) or state laws\n» To identify steps to follow when an employee fails to provide the requested and required medical certification\n» To explain the process in responding to an intermittent leave request that may include a potential accommodation under the ADAAA\n» To describe essential documentation guidelines to prevent liability\n» To outline best practices when conducting the legally required interactive process when determining an accommodation under the ADAAA\n» To clarify a physical or mental impairment that limits major life activity based on the ADAAA\n» To discuss the criteria for essential job functions\n» To determine if and why you need more medical opinions\n» To judge WC/ADAAA light duty restrictions while keeping FMLA intermittent and reduced scheduled leave viable \nAreas Covered in the Session \nEnsuring compliance with FMLA can be frustrating for many HR professionals who are uncomfortable with the Act. \nThis leads to litigation. Then\, adding the ADAAA legal requirements adds to the confusion which can also lead to discrimination under civil rights law. Sometimes sprinkled in with FMLA and the ADAAA is WC – the nexus among the three legal requirements\, especially as it relates to leaving\, medical certification\, and getting the employee back to work as quickly as possible\, can be daunting. \nThis webinar will separate the three laws and examine how each law applies to work situations. \nWho Will Benefit\nThis webinar is for all industries so identifying specific job titles is not realistic. That said\, the following general job titles should attend:\n» CEOs\, COOs\, CFOs\n» Human Resources Directors\, Managers and Specialists\n» HR Executives\n» Managers and Supervisors\n» Benefit Specialists\n» Business Owners\n» General Managers\n» Human Resource Managers / Administration\n» Privacy Officers\n» Health Information Managers\n» Healthcare Counsel/Lawyers\n» Office Managers\n» HR Practitioners\n» Leave Administrators\n» Benefits Administrators\nTo Register (or) for more details please click on this below link:\nhttps://bit.ly/3s56NMQ\nEmail: support@concordeducations.com\nTel: (989)341-8773

SUMMARY:HR Metrics: A Critical Measurement of the Impact of Human Resources Management
DESCRIPTION:Effective HR metrics are not developed in a vacuum. The “right or best” metrics require a detailed understanding of your organization: how it generates revenue\, its business strategies and objectives\, it business imperatives\, the risks it faces\, the opportunities to be seized\, and what it already measures. \nThus\, HR metrics should not be developed in a silo or owned exclusively by human resources. To be of value\, HR metrics should measure the business factors that are important to the organization – not just HR – and should be co-owned by HR and the C-suite\, other departments\, and line managers. The right or best metrics are HR metrics that incorporate the input of stakeholders and contribute to informed decision-making. From this perspective\, HR metrics should be predictive and action oriented. HR metrics that do not assist organizational decision making are of little value. The issue is not the number of metrics. As Albert Einstein noted: “Everything that counts can’t be measured and everything that can be measured does not count.” \nAs noted\, the measurement of business outcomes is a critical component of the HR auditing process. Thus your organization’s HR metrics should help you assess the value and contribution of your organization’s human capital; should focus your organization’s attention on how human capital helps it achieve its business objectives; should help you measure and assess human capital management and employment practices liability related risks; and should help you assess individual and organizational performance. \nSince HR metrics can assist your organization identify weaknesses and failures in its human resource management and employment practices compliance activities\, your organization’s selection and use of specific HR metrics is not only an indicator of what issues it considers important\, but is also an indication of your organization’s commitment to identify and ferret out ineffective or unlawful practices and processes. \nThus your organization may be scrutinized not only on the issues it chooses to measure\, but also the issues it chooses to ignore. Thus your use of HR metrics considers both quantitative and qualitative methods and measurements\, should help you assess your organization’s performance\, and should provide you with data that will allow you to evaluate human capital outcomes. \nWhy Should You Attend \nGovernmental and regulatory agencies have put employers on notice that they must create\, maintain\, and demonstrate procedures and activities that they are in compliance with the laws – and these laws are numerous. At the same time\, investors\, lending institutions\, and third party administrators are constantly imposing requirements upon employers that ensure resources are properly used and that results are properly reported. In this environment\, organizations must be able to demonstrate compliance through objective measures. The failure to demonstrate compliance with these requirements can impose significant liabilities. \nThus employers need metrics and measurements that are strategic\, operational\, and transactional. They need metrics that help them identify monetary and non-monetary risks and help them manage revenue generation\, productivity\, labor costs\, and profitability. \nFurther\, they need metrics that help identify non-compliance. These metrics measure the employment brand and organizations’ ability to attract and retain top performers. They also measure legal and statutory non-compliance\, which may result in fines\, penalties\, debarment\, and lost business opportunities. This webinar discusses the use of HR metrics in helping organizations assess these risks and discusses the use of HR related Key Compliance Indicators (KCIs) that can be used as an element of a continuous audit process that provides assurance of compliance. \nAreas Covered in the Session\n» Gain an understanding of key HR metrics\n» Be able to identify and assess the strategic and operational impact of HR metrics\n» Learn the role of metrics in measuring and communicating value\n» Review the basics of using HR metrics in assessing human capital related risks\n» Learn how HR metrics improve strategic and operational decision making \nWho Will Benefit\n» HR Professionals\n» Risk Managers\n» Internal Auditors\n» CFOs\n» CEOs\nTo Register (or) for more details please click on this below link:\nhttps://bit.ly/3LeKPO8\nEmail: support@concordeducations.com\nTel: (989)341-8773

SUMMARY:Radio Show #442: How Communication Creates and Sustains Engagement.
DESCRIPTION:Special Guest: Elaine Bennett: Principal of BennettInk.com \nEngagement in a Hybrid World: If your employees aren’t engaged with their work\, they won’t stay your employees for long. How do you create and sustain engagement when your workforce may be physically scattered? Communication is key—but it must be transparent\, truthful\, and tailor-made for your situation. \nElaine Bennett’s name may sound familiar but she is an award-winning speechwriter and definitely not the lady from Seinfeld\, whose last name was Benes. \nThis Elaine is a strategic messaging consultant\, advising clients from Fortune 50 CEOs to entrepreneurs on their messaging. She also creates and delivers trainings on how to improve the writing of everything from internal communications to speeches. Her 2019 TEDx Talk tackles the topic of how language can change the world. \nShe began her career on Wall Street 25+ years ago\, as speechwriter for the CEO of Salomon Brothers. When scandal forced the executive to resign\, Warren Buffett stepped in as Interim CEO—and Elaine’s newest client. Mr. Buffett offered Elaine one of his highest compliments:\n“You have a terrific ear and you turn straight thinking into straight writing.” \nAnd that’s what she’s been doing ever since—melding the mind of a businessperson with the sensibility of an outsider to tell complex stories in a sophisticated but relatable way. Or as another client put it\, “Elaine is the Obi-Wan of speechwriting.” \nJoin us as we discuss how communication creates and sustains engagement. \nListen Live (Archive Available) \nHost: Jo Moffatt

SUMMARY:How To Reverse the Effects of Trauma
\nAreas Covered in the Session\n» Gain an understanding of key HR metrics\n» Be able to identify and assess the strategic and operational impact of HR metrics\n» Learn the role of metrics in measuring and communicating value\n» Review the basics of using HR metrics in assessing human capital related risks\n» Learn how HR metrics improve strategic and operational decision making \nWho Will Benefit\n» HR Professionals\n» Risk Managers\n» Internal Auditors\n» CFOs\n» CEOs\nTo Register (or) for more details please click on this below link:\nhttps://bit.ly/3FSd2cs\nEmail: support@concordeducations.com\nTel: (989)341-8773

SUMMARY:Radio Show #443: The Connections Between Talent Alignment and Engagement.
DESCRIPTION:Special Guest: Melissa Ortiz \nFollowing the completion of her MBA at Texas A&M\, the past 15 years of Melissa’s career have focused on improving employee retention\, matching the right people to the right seats within client organizations\, and measurably improving Employee Engagement. Her focus area is Talent Optimization and her “why” is Better Work\, Better World. \nThe drive to help organizations harness the power of talent is Melissa’s core focus because of the meaningful impact her work makes on individuals and organizations\, but also on their families and communities. The ripple-effect of talent optimization is far-reaching. \nMelissa helps clients discover that Talent Optimization happens at every level – from defining culture to crafting individual roles\, from discussing team-level engagement scorecards to debriefing organization-wide engagement hotspots; it’s all about understanding where you want to go then aligning your talent strategy your with business strategy to get you there. These metrics allow clients to quantify the level of psychological attachment that exists among employees and teams – then proactively manage those relationships. \nThese metrics matter because they are leading indicators. Unlike traditional fiscal measurements (P&L\, Balance Sheet\, and Statement of Cash Flows) which look in the rear-view mirror at where a company\, division\, or department has been\, Melissa helps clients focus on forward-looking metrics that predict where they’re headed and course-correct as needed. When Melissa isn’t working with her team or clients\, you can find her on her 5 th generation family farm in Northern California\, or on mini-adventures with her husband Antonio and their two children\, or investing her time in local youth programs such as the Colusa Cyclones swim team. \nIn this episode\, we’ll be talking about the connections between talent alignment and engagement and about the fact that the so-called Great Resignation is really about a Great Realignment. Alignment of talent to work\, alignment of personal values to organizational mission. And the fact that when we’re a natural fit for the role\, we can show up more authentically at work.\nJoin us as we discuss the connections between talent alignment and engagement. \nListen Live (Archive Available) \nHost: Andy Goram
