Guest: Robert Ordever, People and Operations Director, O.C. Tanner

One of the hottest topics in the HR and C-Suite circles since the advent of HR departments is the debate between employee engagement and employee happiness. Both are allegedly what every organisation wants to achieve because the benefits (productivity, loyalty and profitability to name but a few) can support booming business performance.

Though a happy employee doesn’t necessarily mean a productive one. So in a world where budgets and resources are tight, should businesses focus on achieving just one? Are happiness and engagement mutually exclusive?

With experience both as a senior HR professional and a supplier of engagement and recognition programmes, Robert Ordever will be joining us today to share his views on the subject and explaining his approach to balancing the need between improved employee engagement and his people’s needs for happiness.

Robert Ordever joined O.C. Tanner in August 2014, as People and Operations Director. From luxury retail at Harrods to Premier League football at Fulham Football Club, Robert’s operational and HR background has given him a real passion for creating a workplace culture that truly gets the best out of its teams. Robert holds Chartered Fellowship of the CIPD and has specialised in the field of Human Resources for over 16 years.
