Vacancy: Education Thought and Action Group

An exciting volunteer opportunity exists for a pro-active individual, to join as the Chair of our Thought and Action Group (TAG).

Education – Better Engaging Teachers to Bring Their Best Every Day

Would you like to stop teacher disengagement?

Are you passionate about education and see the absolutely critical need for teacher engagement? Are you sometimes (or maybe even always) frustrated when you read negative press about engagement in education? Are you someone who likes to network, lobby, lead, and maybe ruffle the occasional feather or two? Well if so, we have an amazing opportunity for you to showcase your skills.

Our Education Thought & Action Group is currently looking for a new Chair to take their ambitious and exciting plans forward. Under the leadership of Justin Robbins, co-founder of Fit2Communicate, the group has:

  • Initiated a virtual Education Round Table discussion talking about how we ‘Stop Teacher Disengagement’
  • Developed a manifesto for positive teacher engagement
  • Created Social media sites on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter with several followers
  • Gathered lots of research into the drivers and issues surrounding the topic
  • Written a chapter for ‘Many Futures of Education’ by Fast Futures due to be published in 2020

Justin, who is stepping back from being Chair after three years in the role, but will stay involved as a group member supporting the new Chair, said:

“This is the right time for somebody new to come in and inject some new thinking and drive into the group. We have been going for three years, during which time we have been working away diligently. The time is now right to turn up the volume for our group and that requires someone with the right skills and passion for making a difference to education. I am looking forward to working with whoever that person turns out to be.”

Group members are based across the UK and most meetings are held via conference call. If you are interested in finding out more about the role please contact one of our Thought & Action Group Co-ordinators, Claire Ritchie.

We are also keen to hear from anyone interested in providing support to the Chair by organising meetings / events, taking notes at meetings and chasing actions etc.
