29 Mar 2011 The Prime Minister, David Cameron, gives his backing to the new independent Employee Engagement Task Force during a launch event at 10 Downing Street. The Coalition Government mandates EFS to begin a national conversation about employee engagement right across the private, public and Third sectors, with a view to improving the UK economy. The Task Force is supported by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills because its work supports two of the UK Government’s top priorities – delivering sustainable growth & productivity for the UK, and developing new approaches to help people improve their wellbeing.
Feb 2011 EFS Task Force established. EFS recruits its first secondees, and begins building practitioner and ‘guru’ groups
Jul 2009 Engaging for Success report presented to Peter Mandelson, SoS Business, Innovation and Skills. A seminal report in persuading Government, CEOs, practitioners to take employee engagement seriously, and to begin applying its principles. David MacLeod and Nita Clarke recommend the setting up of a Task Force of business leaders to start a national campaign to raise awareness of employee engagement and to share good practice
