We are delighted that based on the enthusiastic feedback from our launch event on 25 May 2016, there will be others to follow.
Our vision for this network is to provide an opportunity for people to connect and explore the topic of Employee Engagement with the intention of:
Sharing and learning from each other:
- By networking at the event whilst enjoying refreshments on arrival
- Through case studies that evidence success
- Introducing latest techniques and/or research
Inspiring attendees to take something back to their workplace that will help them to further improve their employee engagement
Cathy Brown, Executive Director of Engage for Success, shared a lively and inspirational session that highlighted the impact that change in demographics and technology will have on employee engagement. She shared the latest research and how Engage for Success supports a much needed improvement in Employee Engagement across the UK.
Fiona Anderson, valuingYOU and founder of the Birmingham network, explored the potential that a strengths focussed approach has to transform Performance Management within the workplace.
At the session she demonstrated how the current deficit model that focuses on weakness differs from one that focuses on strengths.
- Attendees had 1 minute conversations to share their own weaknesses,
- Followed by 1 minute conversations that focussed on their strengths.
- As a result of the focus on strengths, the increase in their motivation, a key factor for increasing engagement, was a staggering 43%.
Fiona also provided examples of how to build Executive commitment and demonstrate a valid business case for investment in employee engagement – blogs available: www.valuingyou.co.uk
Topics for future events were captured and attendees were encouraged to put forward suggestions for sessions that they are willing to bring to the group. Our next session will be in September/October 2016.
