Event Report: The Power of Engagement!

In November 2016, seasoned IC experts Gemma McGrattan, Camilla Rigby and Angela Da Silva took to the stage at Bath’s Guildhall to talk about the incredible things engagement can achieve, and how to make it happen.

The ODEON transformation story

Inspired by a new report by KPMG, Gemma McGrattan, Founding Director at Synergy Creative, discussed how when it comes to customers and employees, experience is everything.

Having worked in partnership with ODEON UCI Cinemas for the past two years, Gemma took the audience on a journey of how the ODEON team have transformed their business by focusing on the employee and guest experience. From engagement scores to NPS and income, the results have been dramatic to say the least!

Creating Culture

The second speaker was Camilla Rigby. Her wealth of IC experience at OVO Energy and Dyson made her the perfect person to discuss creating a strong culture when your company is growing fast.

She talked about how OVO – an expanding and particularly innovative energy company – developed their culture as they took a new approach to service. She also talked about the importance of a flexible communications structure and how employee events can reap huge engagement.

Building energy

Angela Da Silva from the popular and rapidly expanding Las Iguanas restaurant chain, was the final speaker.

Her big focus has been on engaging employees as the company grows. As well as the development of their employer brand journey, she shared all the great comms tools they’ve brought in, from travel guides to learning journey development passports. She also discussed the power of using Facebook to generate employee conversations and how their dedicated engagement officer has boosted energy across the entire business.

With 60 internal comms professionals in the audience, this sold-out event was a real testament to the power of great engagement. The three speakers received fantastic feedback with attendees describing the event as ‘inspiring and informative’ and ‘thought-provoking’ with ‘really good ideas and case studies’ providing ‘lots of food for thought’.
