Employee Engagement at The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
This case study details the challenges of major organisation change in response to both an Employee Engagement survey and pending business change including TUPE, technology process re-engineering and an increase in volume of work. It details how the Senior Management Team responded and their commitment in practice: a working group was commissioned to respond to employee issues and was guided by David MacLeod and Nita Clarke’s Engaging for Success report, and by looking at managing leadership and change effectively using John Kotter’s eight step model of change. The Working Group – ‘The Challenge Team’, took responsibility for the majority of staff engagement practice – whilst the Board re-wrote the business plan and the Chief Executive was involved in a ‘back to the floor’ programme.
In 2011, a further employee survey showed an 84 percent response rate with vast improvements in organisational trust had been achieved.
