A summary paper of a collaborative research study by OnePlusOne and Working Families, looking at the connection between Relationship Quality and Work Engagement. In order to discover if a connection exists four key questions were considered:
- Are Relationship Quality and Work Engagement predicted by perceptions of Work Centrality and additional work-centric factors?
- Are Relationship Quality and Work Engagement predicted by perceptions of Work-Family conflict and Family-Work conflict?
- Are Relationship Quality and Work Engagement predicted by key socio-demographic and relationship-centric factors?
- Do any of the above influence the strength of the assoication between Relationship Quality and Work Engagement?
This summary report aims to stimulate discussion between researchers, employers and employees in order to generate policies and practices that are beneficial to all concerned. It details the conclusions and findings of the research as well as a number of recommendations as to how employers might approach connections between work and family life.
